FNT Capstone Project Requirements
Overview
You will design a multi-site enterprise network using NetEmulator®.
Technologies include VLANs, dynamic routing, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, ACLs, and wireless.
Case Scenario
BlueWave Analytics Group operates across three sites: HQ (Tampa), Research (Charlotte), Field Office (Boston).
Global Requirements
You are creating a representative topology; you do not need to include all computers, servers, and switches that would be necessary for all the devices mentioned. More details are given in the Site Requirements and instructions in each lab step.
Each department and site is in its own broadcast domain; some departments may require multiple broadcast domains. The datacenter is in its own broadcast domain.
Use 192.168.x.0/24 addressing where you decide what is in the third octet; however no more than 126 devices can be in a single broadcast domain.
Each department can use only one /24 address.
Clients use DHCP except where noted; servers use static IPs. DHCP pools should accommodate at least as many computers as specified in each site.
Use VLANs/router on a stick and RIPv2 routing where appropriate. Routers should be named according to the site in which they are located.
Site Requirements
HQ (Tampa Location):
- Four departments and a datacenter.
- Accounting: 75 computers
- Operations: 160 computers
- Management: 50 computers
- IT: 35 computers
- Datacenter: 20 servers including a DNS Server, Web Server, DHCP Servers, Management Server
- Represent this site with two computers in each required subnet/broadcast domain.
- Use a maximum of two switches and one router port for all subnets. Router on a stick and trunk ports are required.
- The datacenter should show the DNS server, Web server, management server, and DHCP servers. The DNS server should be configured with host addresses for the DNS server, Web server, and management server.
Research (Charlotte Location):
- 180 computers
- DNS server, DHCP server
- Represent this site with two computers in each required subnet/broadcast domain.
- Use only one switch and one router port
- The DNS server should be configured with host addresses for the DNS server, Web server, and management server that are located in the HQ datacenter.
- This site is connected to HQ using a serial WAN link.
Field (Boston Location):
- Wireless-only network: 15 Laptops
- Static IP addressing
- Represent this site with two laptops.
- This site is connected to HQ using a serial WAN link.
Deliverables
The Project is broken into five steps; you will start small and build and configure the network with each step, completing the project with the fifth step. Each step provides instructions on deliverables for that step.Building and Securing a Network from Start to Finish
